Angela’s Story
What I’d done for the past 12 years, prior to working with Alexis, in addition to having part time jobs, was paint paintings and send them out to galleries and wait for the galleries to sell my work. I felt like I needed to be more in charge of my own art career. I felt frustrated about not having any sort of plan further than painting.
I kind of had an idea of what having a good business sense looked like, but just didn’t know what to put into place first… it was all just painting and creating art. Because [Alexis] thinks how an artist thinks, she puts that whole business plan together, that’s why I joined Artists In Business. With her help I’ve finally been able to “be in charge” of my own career.
Now continuing on as a full-time artist, 5 years after taking that first course, The Profit Canvas, I still use the initial groundwork. Importantly it also showed me what I needed to know and what I lacked when it came to what I wanted my art to stand for. That came down to me understanding my own story.
I realized that I wasn’t 100% sure of my reason for painting. I knew the feeling it gave me. I knew it was this compulsive need that I had to paint. I knew how I felt when I didn’t paint, but I didn’t know exactly why. I didn’t understand those really deep stories within myself.
I never even thought of that prior to the Profit Canvas or Optimized Artists. It’s the most essential part. To gain an understanding of the reasons why I paint first, and then learn how to build a framework around that enables me to communicate that through my work.
If you are determined and passionate enough in one sense to have a full-time career as an artist, then being in a program like hers is a no-brainer. There is nobody that’s going to come along, tap you on the shoulder, and make your dreams come true. Only you can do that for yourself.
Any long time successful artist, I don’t care who they are, they’ve done the hard yards when it comes to creating their art and their business. You do have to make it happen for yourself. [Now] I’m painting every day and putting my work out into the world, that is my dream. I feel in control of my own success.

When I met Angela, I was taken by her talent for creating such a unique and beautiful style that seemed to exude pure joy that jumped off her canvases. I was struck at the same time by how challenging it was for her to share her story in any form with her audience. Being somewhat of an introverted personality myself, I deeply connected to her challenge of moving past that hurdle in order to comfortably share her journey with her online community. But once she did, it was like the floodgates opened to a whole new experience for the growth of her business. It has been a joy for me to witness such expansive growth.

Amja’s Story
My business was just starting and I needed more structure. I knew what my vision was and I kept writing different visions and missions down but I just needed it to be a simple sentence that was clear. I’d done an elevator pitch, but it didn’t infuse my true emotions and my feelings in there. My business needed help to better understand things financially, and with structure, just so I could have more progress and more wins.
After the Profit Canvas, I was more clear in terms of what it is I’m doing. I know what my vision and mission are, and I’m very passionate about that, as they’re both very purpose-driven, but I just had clearer steps as to how to bring the theory of it into practice into reality.
I’ve definitely seen an improvement, just the black Friday offer and the holiday offer bonus workshop that we’ve done, that for me was like levels, it helped me in so many other areas, it helped me learn how to use email series, landing pages, all of that kind of stuff, it was fantastic and it’s the tech support I got with that was really good as well.
[On a personal level] I felt more focused and organized. Doing the work with the profit canvas kind of got me more centered so I wasn’t too left brain or too right brain, it was really trying to help me stay a little bit more structured.
I love Alexis’s approach. I love her coaching style. I love the online groups that we’ve got. For me one of the things that makes it unique is the tech support… I was taught how to customize some of the things that I was doing more to my brand, which was really helpful to me.
I think it’s been absolutely amazing. I actually looked forward to every single Q&A session that we had, any bonus sessions, there were times when I had to look in the calendar and say I’m rescheduling because I’ve got a meeting with Miss Alexis! So yeah, the support has been really really good.
It’s worth it. To be honest, I actually shared that with a friend on Tuesday, somebody was going to do the course and for some reason wasn’t able to, I was like listen, it’s an investment, it’s your business, you HAVE to invest in your business, and Alexis is the one to do it with.

I was just drawn to Alexis. She’s a very caring, sharing, and inspiring person. She’s all of those and more. That’s how I would introduce her. You can tell when people have a passion and love for what they do. And she loves what she does, you can tell that. It’s just ingrained in her DNA and I would be surprised if she ever did anything different.
Alexis is very intuitive, she almost tells me things before I even know it myself. That’s one thing that’s really good about her. One thing that I really felt very strongly about when we were in New York with her, was that she could see things in people, good things, and she talked about them. She would say Kelly you have such a strength here, or Lauren that is where you need to put all of your energy. She would see things in us that we didn’t even see in ourselves! That was probably one of the highlights of meeting her in person.

When I first met Dee I was certain she must paint all day every day in order to have become such a master of her craft. But I learned immediately that she not only spent most of her life raising her four children but also helping her husband run their insurance business, for which she held an executive role. She would fit painting in only when she had the time. She had enrolled in the Profit Canvas Mentorship because she felt it was finally her time to build a business that was so meaningful to her and the impact she wanted to make with her art.
This is when I knew that she was going to build one of the most successful businesses I had ever seen, regardless of any challenge she may have to face with tech or the online space. And I was right. What an honor and privilege it has been to witness this kind of growth over such a short period of time for one of the most loving, caring, unstoppable women I’ve ever met.

Elisa’s Story
The process of learning how I can be independent through my art has completely changed and, you know, even keeping the accounts separate and keeping track of everything that comes in and comes out. I also worked a lot on my many blocks and memories in terms of why am I not getting exactly what I want from my art.
Last year the art show I did in November went really well! After that I did a super quick 24-hour black Friday sale, nothing was happening throughout the whole day, but I woke up the next morning and there was a $1,500 Euro sale in an hour and I thought this is amazing!
My attitude: that I can earn money and I can be confident about what I’m putting out, has completely changed. I’m focused. Two of my goals are to get more people to join my newsletter and more ideal buyers to follow my artwork on Instagram.
The attitude is definitely the big shift, personally, for me. When I joined there were so many things changing, including that I was changing jobs, and when you start a new job you need to focus. I was also planning to start a family!
After the Profit Canvas I know what my personal needs are, I know what my weak points are, I have no problems in terms of creativity or putting my stuff out there, it’s just asking for the sale and asking people to join the newsletter, I know those are my focal points for the next while, and I have Alexis to thank for that.

What I have been in awe of in witnessing the growth of Elisa’s business is her unstoppable consistency. She was working a full-time job when she enrolled in the Profit Canvas Mentorship with very little time to spend on her art, let alone her business growth. But she took the term “bite-size pieces” to a whole new level by taking at least one action every single day in both directions and the payoff has been outstanding. She’s one of these artists who appears to have achieved “overnight success”, when really the compounding effect of her small but powerful actions simply came to fruition and continues to do so.
